In August 2022, we took an epic research trip for the biography Sarah is writing on Otis W. Leader, WWI Chickasaw/Choctaw/Cherokee war hero.

“Re-living Otis’ life alongside him has been a draining but incredible experience I wouldn’t trade for anything. I’m so grateful for this privilege, and the chance we had to sneak up to Oklahoma on a final research trip for his story! In three days, we met with descendants, traversed the roads and towns where Otis lived, and revisited his scrapbook in the care of the Choctaw Nation Museum at Tuskahoma,” Sarah says.
